Our day out to Portmeirion
Earlier in the year, the Chrysanths were tracked down and asked
to perform a pantomime for a very special Christmas party. The
Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) asked us to prepare and perform
for the families of their members.
After much hard work from cast and crew, the day came for us to
journey down to Portmeirion.
Dancers, cast members and some hard working mums
excitedly boarded the coach. After a two hour journey through the
Welsh countryside, we arrived in the delightful village of
Portmeirion where we were greeted by a lovely local gentleman who
kindly directed us to the town hall.
Preparations were already underway, with the back stage crew
setting up staging, lighting and sound desks. After a short while,
dancers and cast were fully costumed and ready to perform.
Some time later...... after a relatively smooth rehearsal, and a
little bite to eat, the time came to perform our show.
The town hall was packed to the brim with parents and children
waiting in eager anticipation for the panto to begin.
Lighting ready, sound ready, performers ready and
the show began. A first half full of witty banter, song and dance
proved to be a big hit with the very receptive audience who seemed
to really enjoy the specially adapted script -tailor made for the
occasion.
After a brief interval, the second half which began aboard ship,
continued with an equally well received display of talented
performers. After a final song and well deserved applause, our show
came to an end.
The younger children performing with us were delighted to meet
Father Christmas, who kindly presented them with an early Christmas
gift.
The day, although very long, was a great success and enjoyed by
both the Chrysanths and members of the YPO and their families.
